Becoming a Missionary

My beloved brethren, you and I, today and always, are to bless all peoples in all the nations of the earth. You and I, today and always, are to bear witness of Jesus Christ and declare the message of the Restoration. You and I, today and always, are to invite all to receive the ordinances of salvation. Proclaiming the gospel is not a part-time priesthood obligation. It is not simply an activity in which we engage for a limited time or an assignment we must complete as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rather, missionary work is a manifestation of our spiritual identity and heritage. We were foreordained in the premortal existence and born into mortality to fulfill the covenant and promise God made to Abraham. We are here upon the earth at this time to magnify the priesthood and to preach the gospel. That is who we are, and that is why we are here--today and always.

11/05/12

Hey! So, this past week was crazy! We had Zone Leader Council on Thursday and exchanges with the assistant to the President. Then Friday we had a Zone Development Meeting to introduce our new zone focus for the month; and we had very limited time to plan for it. Then we just had busy days all week it seems.

I met up with Brittany Kenemore that moved from Corona to Bluffdale, got baptized, and then moved back to California   She has some friends here in Corona that she wanted us to meet up with (non-members) so we had lunch on Saturday and taught them a lesson. This Sunday her friend was going to come to church but wasn’t able to make it, but she came anyway to the YSA ward, and guess what? One of our investigators brought a friend and it turns out that Brittany has know him since they were like 11.  So she is going to help us fellowship him.

At church we were also introduced to a friend of this girl and it turns out she wants the lessons too! So we found like 2 new investigators at church and there were 4 non-members at church too! So :) that was awesome!

Our home-share was out of town so we had the whole house to ourselves.  On Saturday night we put a mattress in the living room next to the couch and watched "Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration" on the big screen with surround sound! :) It was awesome, even though I fell asleep really fast.

Anyway, so, I am excited to come home and it feels right, but I am nervous at the same time. Everyone keeps reminding me that I am going home, but I don’t think it has quite registered yet.

Anyway. We had a pretty good week, but this next week is going to be even better! :) We have a few potential investigators that look pretty legit!

Okay well I just want to end with a few quotes:

"It’s okay to be happy with your success, but never be satisfied"

"The only person you should want to be better than today, is the person you were yesterday"

"If you want things that you have never had, then you have to do things that you have never done!"

I will include a few pics :) Love you!

Thanks to all of those who wrote me back and for all of your love and support, I definitely appreciate it and it seems to make my burden lighter.

So thanks, and also thank you for all of the prayers.

Remember: No sincere prayer ever goes un-answered.

 Love, Elder Justin McNew
