Becoming a Missionary

My beloved brethren, you and I, today and always, are to bless all peoples in all the nations of the earth. You and I, today and always, are to bear witness of Jesus Christ and declare the message of the Restoration. You and I, today and always, are to invite all to receive the ordinances of salvation. Proclaiming the gospel is not a part-time priesthood obligation. It is not simply an activity in which we engage for a limited time or an assignment we must complete as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rather, missionary work is a manifestation of our spiritual identity and heritage. We were foreordained in the premortal existence and born into mortality to fulfill the covenant and promise God made to Abraham. We are here upon the earth at this time to magnify the priesthood and to preach the gospel. That is who we are, and that is why we are here--today and always.

New Companion in Corona

Hey everybody! Guess what? This week was transfer week and I'm staying in Corona but, I'm getting a new companion :) yay! This week for me and Reimann was a little difficult and I know that the Lord knows my desires and so he blessed me with a new companion. Hopefully he is ready to work hard because I am pumped to do some work here in Corona. Not that I wasn't before but, I am just all fired up for some reason. I can feel the difference when people pray for me and this week there must have been a few more than normal because I just have this burning desire to work extra hard! My new companion is Elder FLY! I heard he has been out for a bit, like 22 months or so and I'm going to be "killing him", meaning that I will be his last companion before he goes home.  Crazy! I'm so stoked to meet him hopefully we get along. I can't believe I'm taking over the area of two wards and stuff so soon. One transfer and bam!  I'm here with a brand-new companion (meaning he hasn't served here before) Anyway, all is well!
Well I love you! :) Have a good week!

A visit to Yuciapa

I'm sending a few more pictures from my trip to Yucaipa.

This is my gift from Elder Kirk to me.  It's like a missionary thing.  He signed the back of it! It's an HJC motorcycle helmet that he picked up for cheap. For all of you who don't know what that means its a posterity gift from my last missionary comp.

Mike & Heather get baptized

June 27, 2011

Hello to everybody!
So I just want to update you all on what's been going down lately. I'm in Corona with a new comp Elder Reimann.  Since we have the same goal and purpose on a mission it makes getting along a little easier. I'm in a car and over two wards so the work is much different.  We do a lot of visiting members and we have been teaching quite a few people the ward mission process (W.M.P.) so that's cool to get the members involved!

The coolest things about this week are that first, I've seen the blessings that come from bearing simple testimony while trackting in our OYM's (open your mouth).  This past week we were tracting and we did a whole street and didn't have a lot of luck but, as one of the new things we try and give everyone a mormon.org card to check out our website to learn more about our church.  If you haven't checked out this website, I definitely encourage you to because it's awesome and a great missionary tool.  Anyway, so we knocked on this door and I talked to this lady named Maria .  She told us that she wasn't interested.  I went ahead and asked her if it was okay to give her a card and she was cool with that.  So, as I gave her the card I just bore a simple testimony to her and let her know that our message could definitely bless her life and bring happiness.. something like that. She accepted the card and we went away. Then later that day we got a referral via text message on our phone for Maria. She wanted a Book of Mormon. Later that week we gave her one and we will see where it all goes.My main point is that a pure and simple testimony is all that it takes for someone to get the message and to feel the spirit.
A couple of months ago in Yucaipa a very similar situation took place. We were trackting and gave this lady a mormon.org card and we later got a referral. Well, that lady and her husband were both baptized this Sunday (yesterday) :) and it all started with a small simple pure testimony. A little seed that was planted and I've seen that seed grow into a plant and that plant still has allot of growing to do but the point is, that reaping the rewards of your labor is so worth it!
Yesterday i got to go back to Yucaipa :) I got to see Mike and Heather get baptized. which was an awesome experience and I won't forget it. I also got to see Elder Proffit, Elder Kirk, his new companion, President and Sister Reeves (the mission pres and his wife) and a bunch of friends that I made in Yucaipa.
This week has definitely been great! I'm enjoying the mission despite the rough times. Well that's about all for this week but I'm going to attach a few pictures so you can all see whats new and stuff :) alrighty!
I love you all! have a good week and God Bless!
Love, Elder Justin Charles McNew
